Wood berries, vegetables, fruit and red wine contain a substance, which can destroy cancer cells without damage to healthy blood cells.
To opinion of University of Pittsburg Medical School scientists, this chemical compound can underlie new, less toxic preparations for treatment of some leucosis and lymphoma forms.
In their research scientists have used one of the most widespread varieties of anthocyanidins antioxidants - cyanidin-3-rutinoside (C-3-R), received from a blackberry.
As it was found out, small C-3-R concentration influence within 18 hours ruined 50 % of a leucosis cells colony. The increase in concentration of an antioxidant caused destruction of all malignant cells. Cellular lines of other leucosis and lymphoma forms reacted the same way.
According to one of the research authors, doctor Sao-Min In, C-3-R presence in products of a natural origin allows to figure on safety of this substance even in big concentration. Thus it gives the hope of creating new less toxic in comparison with the modern means of chemotherapy.
In the nearest future researchers are going to test anticancer cyanidin-3-rutinoside properties on animals.
The research report is published in Journal of Biological Chemistry.

Nobody argues that natural juices are very useful drinks. But here is one of them which doctors have put in «the black list», it is a grapefruit juice. US health authorities have even begun to check all medical products for compatibility with it. They turned out too lethal cocktails.
Probably, the most well known was a story of a man’s death who for many years had been taking medicines for lowering cholesterol level – Liprimar. But then he started to drink 2 glasses of grapefruit juice a day and after short time doctors noticed problems with kidneys which had ended tragically.
His kidneys appeared to be “stuffed” with the protein formed at destruction of muscular tissues - the typical overdose of Liprimar and other similar medicines. Grapefruit juice sharply increases intestinal absorption, and part of a drug which earlier passed through a digestive system “en routeâ€?, was assimilated. As a result, there was an overdose.
Grapefruit juice can cause overdose of medicines for treatment of heart illnesses, hypertension, antibiotics, hormones and many-many other drugs.

According to the large research which has been carried out in the USA, regular aspirin taking reduces cancer risk and the death rate connected to the oncological reasons, in particular it concerns former smokers and those who have never smoked. Only aspirin has this effect, and it is not extended on the other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, (NSAID).
«Most likely, aspirin has anticarcinogenic properties, but it has side effects, as well, for example, it can provoke a gastric bleeding. Before starting to take aspirin, it is necessary to consult to the doctor», - warns the author of the work Aditya Bardia (clinic Mayo, Rochester, the USA).
Researcher used the data on 22507 women. Study lasted for 12 years, during this time 3487 women suffered cancer, 1193 from them have died for this reason. Regular aspirin taking reduced risk of cancer by 16 % and lowered risk of death from oncological disease by13 %.
Aspirin also reduces risk of death from cardiovascular diseases and the general death rate.
Aditya Bardia has named the received data intriguing, as they are evidence that «regular taking of aspirin can play the important role in prevention of chronic diseases most spread in the western countries, that is a cancer and heart ischemic illness».

The active component of marihuana slows down growth of malignant lungs tumors and reduces risk of metastasises. Harvard University employees managed to establish, that psychotropic drug suppresses growth and spread of the most dangerous cancer cells.
Scientists managed to show, that addition of this drug substance slows down growth of cellular colonies and reduces mobility of cells.
After that scientists have carried out additional experiments on mice with malignant lungs tumors. Experiment showed that cancer tumors were on the average by 50 % less on volume and weight, than at mice from the control group. The mechanism of the salutary action of marihuana active component remains unknown. However, scientists recognize that antineoplastic properties of the drug remain insufficiently studied and demand further confirmation. They noted also, that some of the previous researches on animals have shown, that marihuana can promote development of some cancer types.

Scientists have found out that the breast feeding preventive effect is extended on those women who have given birth to children in the age after 25.
According to the earlier researches, the women who had several children before 25 years, had breast cancer less often. The birth of the child after 25 years, on the contrary, is considered to be a risk factor.
Giske Ursin and his colleagues from the University of Southern California (USA) have managed to prove, that breast feeding will neutralize the risk connected to a late birth of the child.
Authors of new work have analysed the data on women in the age after 55 years among whom there were 995 patients with an invasive breast cancer. It was found out, that breast feeding reduces risk of cancer regardless of the age in which women gave birth to a child. Scientists consider, that this fact is especially important, after all even if the woman has several children, the risk is reduced only if the first child has been given birth in an early age.
According to statistics, 25 years are middle age of a first child birth in the USA.

The problem of an endemic goiterа is extremely important and actual for many countries. More than 1 billion people live in places with the lowered iodine contents in biosphere (water, ground, air, food stuffs). As a result of such insufficiency 200 million people have endemic goiter, 20 million have mental deficiency on a ground of thyroid gland hormones insufficiency.
According to World Health Organization, overcoming of this problem could become the most essential achievement in medicine, surpassing on importance eradication of smallpox.
According to the medical statistics, now actual average consumption of iodine by Russia citizens makes 40-80 mkg a day, when norm is 150-200 mkg. In conditions of such microelement lack, thyroid gland should work more intensively and faster, therefore it becomes large.

American scientists have developed a method of joining microparticles (which can be seen during scanning) to a tumor.
Their purpose is to connect these particles with tumor cells for a long time.
Today determination of a correct doze of an anticarcinogenic medicine and revealing, whether it works correctly, is a great challenge.
Traditional analyses and blood tests can not show precisely the concentration of drugs in a tumor.
The project suggested by Massachusetts Institute of Technology will allow doctors to look “on the inside” of a tumor, using microscopic particles made of the iron oxide and covered with carbohydrates which reminds starch on a structure.
New technology offered by Massachusetts Institute of Technology has preliminary character and has never been tested on people.

In Russia each third call of the “ambulance” is connected to drugs overdose. According to TASS, that was informed by Alexander Mikhajlov, the head of Interdepartmental and informational Activity Department of the Federal Service on drugs control during the round table on April, 10.
According to Mikhajlov, official statistics says, that more than 8 thousand people annually die in Russia because of drugs. At the same time, according to doctors, every year “ambulance” drive to people suffering drugs overdose for 100 thousand times that makes 30 percent from all calls.
State official has noted also, that youth remains the basic target group of a drug mafia in Russia, and drugs are distributed basically among “rebelliously incited young people “. For this reason, Mikhajlov considers, that Russian youth need creation of ‘’a new, youth subculture, alternative to drugs “.

The British scientists have determined a precise sign of genetic susceptibility to excess weight.
The group of scientists of the Oxford University and Peninsular medical school in the city of Exeter in a southwest of England managed to determine the statistical codependence between number of sequences of FTO gene in human DNA and adiposity.
They have analyzed information on 40 thousand person and have found out, that those whose DNA contains such code once, had excess weight 30 % more often, than those people who did not have it.
FTO Sequence for the first time has been revealed at people, suffering diabetes of so-called second type. This illness is shown at people more senior than 40 years.
It is frequently accompanied by adiposity, and scientists managed to connect presence of FTO code with the amount of fat in an organism. It also has pushed them to searches through the genetic databases.
Scientists examined information on people only in the Great Britain, Italy, Finland and northern Europe, but they are sure that their conclusions received on such big sample, will be valid also for other categories of the population. They plan to check them up through databases on afro-Americans and Southern Asia natives.

The population of the Earth grows old, and this tendency will be kept for decades. Such conclusion contains the report of the United Nations Secretary General.
The document states that the population of all the countries, irrespective of development level, in forthcoming decades, will grow old. Report marked that in 2050 in the developed countries one child will account for two elderly persons on the average.
In 2007 28 % from 6,6 billion people living on the Earth, children will make, 18 % - youth, 44 % able-bodied citizens and 10 % - older persons.
In the developed states, as it is spoken in the report, the structure of the population differs considerably from average world parameters. In these countries older persons will make 21 %, and children - 17 %.
End of March 2006 the United Nations has announced its demographic report on Ukraine. According to that report Ukraine had the lowest natality in the world.
Till 2050 the number of old aged people in Ukraine will reach 40 % of the population.
