Scientists have found out «a gene of asthma»
The international group of researchers from the USA, Great Britain, France and Germany identified the gene connected to the increased probability of children’s bronchial asthma development.
The gene named ORMDL3 located in 17-th chromosome was revealed by employees of Michigan University during the research of genotypes of 2237 children, 994 from which suffered asthma. According to the scientists, presence of the certain variant of this gene is connected to increased risk of disease development by 60-70 %.
The data of the American scientists have been confirmed during the additional genetic researches with participation of 2000 children from Germany and 3000 adult asthmatics from the Great Britain.
Researchers believe that their opening sooner or later will lead to development of a new treatment tactics of this heavy chronic disease. According to one of research organizers, professor from the National Institute of heart and lungs (USA) William Cookson, the discovered gene is the most serious of asthma development hereditary risk factors known now.
